This month marks the 4th anniversary of Glow Recipe. Around this time in 2014, we were en route to Korea to try to convince brands that we loved to work with us and take a chance on our dream to curate quality, natural K-beauty. We barely had a working site at the time, but we had passion, and as we learned, that goes far (luckily!). Fast forward four years, and we’re beyond humbled and grateful that your continued love and support for Glow Recipe’s mission. We’ve not only been able to curate amazing, founder-driven brands and launch them on glowrecipe.com and retailers such as Sephora, Target, and QVC, but also created our very own Glow Recipe skincare line. We’ve planned a weekend of fun celebrations as a thank you to all of your support! SundayFor every purchase of our As Seen On Shark Tank Beauty Set, you’ll receive the Whamisa Organic Sea Kelp Mask and Whamisa Green Tea Foaming Cleansing Gel for free! And since we’re feeling especially sentimental, we also wanted to take a quick walk down memory lane and share a few of the pivotal moments of our journey that helped to shape what Glow Recipe is today.November 2014 – Where We WereIn November of 2014, Glow Recipe was born. Startup life was a big change after being at a major beauty conglomerate for a combined 20+ years but we loved every moment of learning how to operate a site, shipping products by hand – even handwriting every single note (we sadly had to stop this as we were spending hours everyday writing!). October 2015 Our First Ever Pop-up at Kakaboka Salon with Unistella We created our first ever pop-up at a hair salon frequented by K-pop stars in Koreatown and hosted a K-beauty Trends presentation. This was the first time we collaborated with nail artist extraordinaire Unistella and introduced #glassnails to the US for the first time.December 2015 – Shark Tank AppearanceThis was an amazing, once in a lifetime experience that allowed us to present amazing K-beauty trends and innovations to the Sharks…and to all of you! Read about our experience from waiting in the casting call line in NYC to standing in front of the Sharks at the ABC Studios on our blog (Part 1 & Part 2)October 2016, Lane Crawford Pop-up in Hong KongOur first ever international pop-up! We partnered with Lane Crawford, Asia’s premier luxury shopping destination to bring our love of K-beauty abroad. We were beyond honored to partner with them to introduce our unique beauty offerings to Hong Kong.December 2016 – Glow Recipe on QVCIt was such an exciting moment for us not just because we were on TV but because it was an opportunity to educate on the K-beauty philosophy and routine and introduce our special brand partners to an even wider audience. Our cult Tundra Chaga Pressed Serum sold out during this first show.March 2017 – First Glow Studio Soho Pop-Up We are so thankful for all the support of Glow Studio Downtown! We could not have done it without our generous partners, our wonderful guests, our talented team, and most of all, our beloved visitors — our Glow family!May 2017 – Glow Recipe Skincare is BornThe day our line launched is a day we will never forget. After years curating the most innovative products in the industry and hearing from you guys that while you loved K-beauty, many were still looking for that perfect product, is what inspired us to create our own line. 1620 formulas, 49 packaging updates, and 8 Korea trips later our namesake Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask and Blueberry Bounce Cleanser were launched. It was, and still is, a dream come true to have our own Glow Recipe products at Sephora! We are still amazed that our Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask sold out 7 times when it first launched.December 2017 – Glass Skin Trend Goes Viral When Jo, our intern based in Seoul, shared her favorite products and application tricks for a natural ‘gwang’ we had no idea how big it would become. The video alone got over 1.2 million views. It’s this type of movement that makes us feel so honored to be a bridge that lets everyone experience what makes K-Beauty so fabulous.January 2018 – August 2018 – More Glow Recipe Skincare LaunchesCreating our first products was such an incredible honor and we knew we had to do it again! Inspired by all of your rave reviews and helpful critiques we decided to create a lightweight daytime moisturizer, the Watermelon Glow Pink Juice Moisturizer, our one-of-a-kind Watermelon Glow Jelly Sheet Mask and reformulate our Blueberry Bounce Gentle Cleanser to be even better. September 2018 – Glow At The Grove West Coast Pop-UpFrom idea conception to location hunting to activations, this pop-up was one of our most exciting, fulfilling endeavors yet. It was such a blast meeting so many of you IRL and to share our love for Kbeauty and skintertainment with fun events such as facial yoga classes and a Mean Girls movie night. Thank you for your endless support and dedication to Glow Recipe — we wouldn’t be here without you. Your feedback also means the world to us and we’d love to hear from you!
